| Question: | Dr web, I do not have the best teeth, I have tmj and have minimal grinding, all my old dentist could do was even out my teeth, but then i would just grind agian and they would chip. Needless to say my front teeth are a little chipped, not very badly, and they have gaps, small ones. I was told that I can get veeners, but my mom and step dad keep telling me that grinding down my teeth in order to place veeners will destory the actual tooth under the veener. Is that true? also I was wondering if having a veener place on my front teeth will cause the tooth the decompose and breakdown underneath the veener, will i still have a nice tooth under the veener in 20 years, or will I have dental problems? I also have recently had 7 cavities in the past year, all were taken care of except for 1. The dentist says its too small and that he will watch it, why would u watch it? wouldnt you just rather take out whats there so it dosent get worse? I also have a tooth, a molar in the back right side of the mouth that had a cavity recently filled 6 months ago but now hurts every now and then, its only one tooth away from the tooth with the small cavity but I doubt that could be the problem? could it? when x rays were taken nothing was found, is it possiable that there is still a cavity underneath? would should I do. I also have one tooth with a root canel which is capped, will it cause me any trouble in the long run, and will the tooth ever end up falling off underneath it? and last but not least, my top back two left molars had real deep fillings and the dentist is going to put in gold inlays in those teeth. It dosent look like you can see the gold inlays when I smile but if you can, is there any way to mask it with bonding? or something else? I was also wondering why I could have gotten so many cavities in a year? I havent really changed my eating or brushing habits so why would I get so many, it really bothers me. Also the cap on my root caneled tooth is dark on the bottom near the gum line, do you think that there is any way to mask this black stuff? I am only 20 and am worried sick about the condition of my teeth. I am currently wearing a NTI device to stop my grinding which works as long as I wear it, but is there any kind of tmj expert that can get me to stop grinding at night? my right jaw snaps because of it and one of my front bottom teeth has cracked because of it, not a big crack, but its right down the middle and noticable only in very direct light from a very very close range. I appreciate any tips or adivce that you can give. |
